The future is digital09/06/2014
Join a group of top educators to learn more about the future of digital education.
From MOOCS to flipped learning: teachers are invited to discuss the digital future of education this July.
The Future Learning Environments conference will take place at the Stanford Plaza in Auckland, July 29–30, and NZASE is a supporting organisation of the event. Less about subject areas, and more about the delivery of education, the conference will look at new ways teachers are approaching their craft.
Dennis Viehland is Associate Professor of Information Systems at Massey University in Auckland, and he is chairperson of the conference.
“Too many times, education is in the news for all the wrong reasons – Novopay, Assignment4You, and school closures to name just three. In this conference, we close the door on these peripheral issues and focus on what is really important: the student,” he says.
One highlight of the conference will be cross-collaboration between the different education sectors. Both school and tertiary teachers will find relevant presentations at the event, says Conferenz’s Kevin Smit. “I’m really looking forward to the merging of school and tertiary educators because too often they work separately. It will be fascinating to see what sort of collaboration comes out of discussions.”
Hot topics in digital education will be discussed, including MOOCS, flipped learning, BYOD programmes and video games, to name but a few.
Kevin says the conference will offer attendees a wide range of subjects to get their teeth into.
“It’s all about the advent of learning technologies, which are currently revolutionising the education landscape, and how all these new tools can come together to enhance educational experience for our students.”
There’s going to be a 3D printer given away. All conference attendees will go into the draw to win this snazzy piece of technology. There is also a special discount offered for state and integrated school providers. Learn more about the conference and booking your place here.
